Starting your journey together

My first training session with any horse begins in the round pen or with groundwork on the line. This is a fundamental session to evaluate the horse, their understanding of leadership roles and what needs to be addressed. I have established a series of exercises I will take a horse through to determine what they do best and where they need more training. These exercises will create a well trained horse if just getting started but will also retrain or fix problems that have been created. The length of time I spend on round pen work and ground work varies from horse to horse. This systematic approach has proven over and over to develop horses that are predictable, a pleasure to work with and responsive versus reactive.
